Ballachulish Hotel

Glencoe, Fort William, Inverness-shire PH49 4JY

Business Details

You can find the Ballachulish Hotel on the shores of Loch Linnhe, a stone’s throw from some of the world’s best hikes, distilleries and castles.

Could Glencoe ever be a warm-up act? No. It is, and always will be, the main event. The Ballachulish Hotel is here, just as it’s been since 1877. Waiting for you to explore – to soak in the views of Loch Linnhe, and to set your body clock to Glencoe time.

Our décor is definitely more ‘richly patterned’ than ‘muted beige’. We’re also very fond of our art and antiques (yes, that radio really does work). The floating staircase has seen a visitor or two – so up and around you go. It’s there again when you’re ready to make your grand entrance, before you find yourself a favourite spot and settle in. All of our rooms come with breakfast and, if you are feeling peckish, the option to include dinner in our lochside restaurant.

Accommodation comprises:
Standard Rooms - cosy, with a charm you can’t quite put your finger on and Feature Rooms. The difference from standard rooms? The views – they are quite something.

  • Double or twin beds
  • Individual character
  • Tea and coffee to start the day
  • Passport to the Isles of Glencoe’s swimming pool when you book direct

Some of our rooms have a walk-in shower while others have a bath and a walk in shower. TV's in all rooms apart from our single room.

Your dogs are very welcome to stay at the Ballachulish Hotel; it’s just £10 for each dog, each night. And we really do mean ‘welcome’: you can bring your dogs into any of our public areas, except the bar and restaurant. All we ask is that you keep your dog on its lead in the lounge areas. They’re even welcome to sleep in your bedroom at night time.

In the Ballachulish restaurant our motto is good food, simply done. Think market fresh mussels, in a classic garlic sauce. Crusty bread straight from the oven, and the glug glug of your favourite wine being poured. All the while watching the water lap onto the shore.

Crackling fires, heart-warming brew and food for the soul (not forgetting the stomach) is what we do best. Simple.

When you book your stay with us direct, you’re welcome to enjoy the swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi at our sister hotel, the Isles of Glencoe. It’s just a five minute drive from here and well worth a visit.

Glencoe is one of the most famous glens in Scotland and offers walking and climbing for all abilities. Pull on your boots and keep the waterproof handy.
