Hayhoull Bed & Breakfast

Bigton, Shetland ZE2 9JA

Business Details

Set in the tranquil village of Bigton on the picturesque west side of the island, Hayhoull is perfectly placed for touring the South Mainland.

Bigton is set on the south west side of the island, and includes the world famous St Ninian’s Isle, a small island linked to the mainland by a sand tombolo, the largest of its kind in Britain. The island was settled in pre-norse times and the remains of an old chapel are still visible.

Five minutes walk from St Ninian’s sands, with many more picture perfect beaches close by, you will be spoilt for choice AND how better to enjoy your breakfast than by feasting on the beautiful, unrestricted views of St Ninian’s Isle and westward to Foula.

The South Mainland offers you the opportunity for walking, bird watching, fishing, cycling, exploring historic sites such as Mousa, Jarlshof and Scatness or simply enjoying the coastline and the abundance of wildlife in the area.

Mary extends a warm and friendly welcome to her guests, and will do everything she can to ensure you enjoy your stay. She offers a hearty breakfast, with evening meals available upon request, where the majority of special diets can be catered for, on prior arrangement. Local, organic ingredients are used depending on availability.

Accommodation comprises 2 double rooms (en suite) and 1 twin room & 1 double (family) room with shared bathroom.

Typical prices are £40 per person per night for double occupancy, and £50 per person per night for single occupancy, but this will be confirmed upon application. Discounts may be available for longer stays.

Breakfast time is flexible, but is usually served between 7.30 and 9.30am. Packed lunches are available upon request. Evening meals are also available by prior arrangement. Most diets are catered for, just make sure you let Les and Mary know your requirements prior to your arrival.

To help you relax, the guest lounge has a TV, a selection of DVDs, games to suit all ages and a book collection including both Shetland literature and maps. There is also a piano, a guitar and a mandolin for the more musically inclined visitors!
