The Selkirk Arms Hotel dates back from 1777 and is known to have had Robert Burns as a lodger on several occasions around 1794, although there are conflicting stories as to the origin of The Selkirk Grace, many believe that it was at this very hotel that Burns penned the famous grace prior to attending at dinner hosted by the Earl of Selkirk at his home on St Mary's Isle.

We are happy to arrange activities for you whilst you are here. From Clay Pigeon shooting to Mountain biking, Tank driving to Paint balling, we can even point you in the right direction for hiring a classic car with which to explore our quiet roads and stunning scenery.
The Selkirk Arms has 16 en-suite bedrooms all complete with tea and coffee making facilities, Freeview TV, free Wi-Fi, direct dial phone and hairdryers.
Food is served in a choice of restaurants - the Bar Lounge areas offer a first come first served policy in the evening, tables can also be reserved in the Artistas Restaurant from 7pm - 9pm.
The Wee Bar offers an intimate cosy adults only atmosphere. Available for private use drinks receptions - 15+ persons. Located at the front of the hotel it has a traditional feel and is often offered if not book as an alternative dining area for those wishing to dine a la doggy!! The Lounge Bar blends food and wine, after dinner drinks, welcome drinks in an informal setting. Family friendly we offer a choice of soft and non alcoholic drinks alongside a changing real ale selection.
Well behaved dogs are welcome at the hotel and are allowed in your room and in the Burns room lounge, unfortunately for the sake of other diners dogs are not permitted in dining areas. There is a small charge of £7 per night for dogs. Please advise us upon booking if you are bringing your dog.
Kirkcudbright is located right by the sea and the hills are a stone-throw away. Kirkcudbright was and still is a cultural hub; living up to its name "the artist's town" with its galleries, museums and artists studios. There are not many towns and cities that can boast its own castle right in the heart of it all. Stroll through the streets of the colourful houses and little fishing harbour and relax in an array of little cafes and bakeries. Local shops are here to cater for your needs. All for a pleasant, enjoyable stay and a perfect base to explore Dumfries and Galloway.
